Theme - Innovations and Experiential Learning in Health and Social Care

Showcase students' achievement in HMSC field learning as well as to facilitate schools in planning and implementation of field learning.
It consists of four parts : Exhibition, Innovative Solutions, Seminars/Workshops and Outstanding Student Award

Details of the Exhibition are as follows :
  • Theme - Innovations and Experiential Learning in Health and Social Care

    Date : 12 to 22 January 2021

    Venue : Young Achievers' Gallery, Podium, West Block Education Bureau
    Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre 19 Suffolk Road, Kowloon Tong.

    Time : Monday to Friday (except public holidays): 9:00am to 6:00pm

    Exhibits :
    (1) Innovative solutions in the areas of health and social care
    (2) Showcase of students’ achievements in field learning
    (3) Health and social care related professions and career pathways

    Remark : In the event of public announcement by the EDB that all schools are to be closed as a result of adverse weather
    conditions (e.g. tropical cyclone or rainstorm), the exhibition will be closed on that particular day.

Details of Innovative Solutions in the Areas of Health and Social Care are as follows:

Aim :
  • To showcase students' achievements in designing Innovative solutions in the areas of health and social care
Target
Applicants :
  • Each secondary school can nominate at most three teams of students (1-4 for each team) to participate.
Content :
  • Relevant theme(s), for example, assessing the risks for injury prevention in different settings, such as workplace, Aged Homes / prevention of elderly fall/ prevention of sports injuries
  • * Including different types e.g. annotated sketches / prototypes / computer 3D models/ webpage / mobile apps / services / activities / proposal
    * The shortlisted teams will be invited to give an oral presentation (3 minutes) of their exhibits in the afternoon via online mode on 15 January 2021 . School representatives of winning teams will be invited to collect their awards and take photos on 22 January 2021 (Friday).
Criteria for Selection of Exhibits / Outstanding Presentation :
  • Creativity – the ideas / solutions are innovative. Please note plagiarism is not allowed
  • Effectiveness – the expected outcomes can be achieved e.g. risks or injuries could be reduced significantly / no other risks or injuries would be incurred
  • Feasibility – the ideas / solutions are practical and can be realised efficiently with limited time and cost
Selection Panel :
  • Representatives from the professional bodies including The Hong Kong Association for Computer Education, Department of Health, Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, School of Design of Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Occupational Safety and Health Council will be responsible for the selection of the exhibits.

    Jobs and career pathways of dentists, dental surgery assistants, dental hygienists, dental therapists and dental technicians.

     

  • Innovative Entrepreneurship Solutions - Social Responsibility in Action

    Date : 19 January 2021 (Tuesday)

    Time : 14:00 – 15:30

    Speaker : Dr TAM Kin-yuen Raymond and Dr. Chow Sung Ming, Department of Applied Social Sciences, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

    Target Student : S3 / S4 / S5 Students

    Content :
    * Sharing on projects in social enterprises – collaboration of different stakeholders for social entrepreneurship
    * Impacts of these innovative solutions on addressing poverty and building the personal assets of the disadvantaged groups

     

  • Time Banks – An Innovative Solution in Social Service

  • Application of Virtual Reality (VR) in the Learning of Health Care

Details of Outstanding Student Award are as follows:

Aim :
  • To enhance students' reflective thinking in field learning / experiential learning
Target
Applicants :
  • Each school can nominate at most five S4 - S6 students to participate.
Content :
  • Themes of the reflection – Experiential Learning / Field Learning in Health and Social Care
  • Each nominated student should submit a reflection in not more than 1 000 words (either in Chinese or English) at or before 6 p.m. on 4 December 2020. Late submission or the content after the 1000th word will NOT be read.
  • The shortlisted students will be invited to attend an interview and give a 5-minute presentation to the Judging Panel about the learning outcomes and reflection, followed by a brief discussion on the reflection with the judges.
Rules of The Award :
  • The work must be original and should not be published or entered any competition before.
  • Participants need to guarantee that the submitted work does not involve plagiarism or infringe any copyright.
  • The Award results are determined by Independent Judging Panel. Participants shall not object to the results and awards determined.
  • All entries submitted will not be returned.
